Seat capacity is the seats airlines schedule, not passengers carried โ and November 2026 capacity is 16% below November 2025 (OAG). The ranking is what matters: Dubai is still #1.

The August Rush โ What Happened (August 2026)
In August 2026, Dubai International prepared to handle nearly 3.7 million passengers during the busy post-summer period, as residents and travellers returned at the end of the holidays. Average daily passenger traffic was expected to reach about 222,000, with transit travellers accounting for approximately 46% of total passenger movement โ nearly one in two people passing through DXB was connecting onward, not starting or ending their journey in Dubai.
Dubai Airports Chief Operating Officer Majid Al Joker, reported 20โ21 August 2026. This was the summer peak, now past โ the same pattern returns, bigger, every winter.
The Next Peak โ What to Expect
Dubai Airports has not yet published its December 2026 forecast. Here is the pattern from the last winter peak (27 November โ 31 December): over 10 million passengers in five weeks; daily volumes averaging more than 294,000 from the UAE National Day weekend; and December daily traffic crossing 300,000, with the busiest single day around 303,000 (20 December).
The next peak starts with UAE National Day (Eid Al Etihad), 2โ3 December โ see the exact dates on our UAE Public Holidays page. When Dubai Airports publishes the 2026โ27 numbers, this page updates first.
Peak-day tips, whenever you fly:
- Arrive early โ aim for 3 hours before an international departure on peak days.
- Say your goodbyes at home โ at peak times, only ticketed passengers are allowed inside the terminals.
- Use the Smart Gates โ residents with a registered Emirates ID or passport skip the manual counter queue.
- Take the Metro to Terminals 1 & 3 โ it beats the peak-day road queues and parking hunt.
