How to Prepare for a Deep Clean at Home in Dubai Before Guests or After Renovation

By DXB TALK ·

A deep clean in Dubai is different from a weekly tidy. Fine dust works its way into every corner, air conditioning runs for much of the year, and after renovation work the film of plaster and paint dust can feel endless. Whether you are preparing for guests, moving in, or clearing up after builders, good preparation is what turns a deep clean from an exhausting day into a manageable, thorough job.

Decide What the Clean Needs to Cover

Start by walking through the home with a notebook and listing what actually needs attention. A guest-ready clean focuses on kitchens, bathrooms, floors, glass, and fresh linen. A post-renovation clean is heavier: it includes dust removal from walls, ceilings, inside cupboards, light fittings, air conditioning vents, and tracks of sliding doors and windows, often more than once as settled dust keeps reappearing for days.

Be realistic about time. A studio or one-bedroom flat may take a few hours, while a villa or a home after major works can take a full day or two visits. If you hire a cleaning company, describe the size of the home, the condition honestly, and any problem areas, so they send enough staff and the right equipment. Prices vary by company and home size, and are approximately in the low hundreds of dirhams for a small flat deep clean, rising for larger homes and post-renovation work — always confirm what is included before booking.

Prepare the Home Before Cleaning Starts

Preparation saves more time than any cleaning product:

  • Declutter surfaces, floors, and cupboards that will be cleaned inside. Put away documents, jewellery, chargers, and anything fragile.
  • Empty the fridge if it is being cleaned, and defrost the freezer the night before if needed.
  • Move light furniture where you can, and agree in advance who moves heavy items, appliances, and sofas.
  • After renovation, make sure builders have removed rubble, leftover materials, and protective coverings, and that water and electricity are connected and working.
  • Secure pets in one room or arrange for them to be out, and plan where children will be during the clean.
  • Check access and parking: many buildings require advance notice or a service lift booking for cleaning teams and equipment, and some communities require visitor registration at security.

Supplies, Equipment and Dubai-Specific Jobs

If you are cleaning yourself, gather supplies first: microfibre cloths, a vacuum with a brush attachment, a mop and bucket, bathroom and kitchen cleaners, glass cleaner, bin bags, gloves, and a step ladder for high vents and cupboard tops. Work top to bottom — ceilings, vents, and shelves before floors — so dust does not fall onto areas you have already finished.

Do not forget the jobs that matter most in Dubai homes. Air conditioning vents and filters collect dust quickly and affect air quality, balcony doors and tracks fill with sand, and bathroom exhaust fans clog. Kitchens need degreasing around the hob and inside the oven and extractor, while bathrooms usually need limescale treatment on taps, shower glass, and tiles because of mineral deposits in the water. If your air conditioning system itself needs servicing rather than surface cleaning, book a separate specialist visit — a deep clean team is not a substitute for proper AC maintenance.

Working With a Cleaning Company

When booking, ask clear questions: How many cleaners and for how many hours? Do they bring their own products and equipment, including a vacuum and ladder? Are inside windows, inside appliances, and balcony cleaning included or extra? What happens if you are not satisfied with an area? Get the agreed scope and price in writing, even if it is just a confirmed message, and avoid paying the full amount in advance for a first booking.

On the day, walk through the plan at the start, point out priorities, and do a final walk-through before the team leaves, checking inside cupboards, behind doors, and bathroom corners while there is still time to fix anything.

The Finishing Touches Before Guests Arrive

Once the heavy work is done, finish with details guests notice: polished mirrors and taps, fresh towels, emptied bins, clean linen, and a quick vacuum of entrance areas. Run the air conditioning to a comfortable temperature before guests arrive.

A well-prepared deep clean leaves the home not just looking better, but healthier and easier to maintain — and in Dubai, staying on top of dust from the start is far easier than fighting it later.
